Pastoral Youth Camp
January 21-22, 2005

The Pastoral youth camp was wonderful and very satisfying.
We had a praise and worship time and worshiped Jesus
during the evening. It was a very special time where
we could focus on God. After singing we had a speaker
share with us how we are forgiven from our sins even
though we are people who sin. We shared many special
moments, singing and listening to the word of God and
this made me feel like a special person. It was a special
time for me and I think it was a special time for God.
I also was able to share about my life with the group
from John Knox church. I have had many challenges and
am learning how to have the courage to forgive those
who have hurt me. |

My favorite part of the camp was the ministry when Pastor
Francis shared with us about Renewal. Thanks to the seminars
at the camp, we learned that we can learn to forgive everyone
that has hurt us. We also were able to renew and restore some
areas of our life such as our character. Renewal is a painful
experience; this pain makes it difficult to forgive others.
I would like to encourage PAG to keep having these camps not
only to escape from our daily environment, and have a good
time, but to help us build our spiritual lives also.

I enjoyed the seminar because I was able to experience renewal
and now I feel different than when I went to camp the day
before. I learned a lot about forgiveness and learning to
forgive those who hurt us. Thanks to the counsel given though
the speakers I was able to reflect on my life and now I feel
better about myself. Thank you very much and may God richly
bless all the supporters of this project. Thank you.

God
at Work at Aldea Global, Flor del Campo

On
Saturday, the 17 of July, the beneficiaries, or scholarship
students , of Proyecto Aldea Global from the
area of Flor del Campo in Tegucigalpa, Honduras put
on a concert for the community of Monte Redondo (Colonia
Carolina), located about one hour outside of Tegucigalpa.
Twenty of the youth from the Flor arrived in Monte Redondo
at a sunny 2:30 in the afternoon to help set up for
the concert and to practice one final time. The youth
set up the sound system, put up decorations for the
event, and visited with the local youth |
People began filtering into
the school where the concert took place around 5:30, and the
concert started shortly after. During that time, the people
of Monte Redondo enjoyed the dance routines, solos, and duets
in which the youth of the Flor participated. This was such
a wonderful night of talent and hard work. These students
had been working hard at the preparation for this night for
weeks, and it was such a wonderful opportunity for them to
see some of the fruits of their work. The people of Monte
Redondo also really enjoyed the presence and talents of these
students. This was a special event for the scholarship kids
from Flor del Campo. As volunteers with Proyecto Aldea Global,
we had the privilege to participate and help out in this event,
and as well as the daily activities of the youth who participate
in the various programs the project offers.
The scholarship program at
Aldea Global has two main groups: children, first-sixth grade;
young people, seventh-twelfth grade. Each youth participates
in at least one of five programs the project offers: Evangelism
, Children's Club , Social Projection ,
and Office Work, and Tutoring . Each Wednesday the
youth come together and meet where they have a devotional
and work on their homework. The evangelism group prepares
Gospel presentations to share at the schools. Club de
Niños is a Saturday Bible school/ Children's
club run by some of the older scholarship recipients for the
neighborhood children. The students involved with Social Projection
complete various projects and needs in and around the community
of Aldea Global. There is also a group that comes to the Aldea
Global office to help with whatever needs to be done. Reforzamiento
is a weekly tutoring program for the children that is
run and managed by a group of the youth. The younger students
come and receive a group lesson and then have time for individual
tutoring in areas of school where they have deficiencies.
Jóvenes and niños, (or scholarship
recipients) can be found in the comforting environment
of Aldea Global at any given time in a day!
Proyecto Aldea Global definitely
has a positive impact on the lives of these youth because
it ministers to them in holistic ways. Basic needs are provided
for, education is a priority, and the youth have the opportunity
to learn more about our Lord. The youth are also given responsibility
through participating in their various activities and can
take ownership in the good things that are happening in their
community.
As volunteers of the project,
we have had the privilege of working with the youth and have
spent some time with the younger scholarship students who
are involved in Club de Niños and benefit
from the tutoring in Reforzamiento . Our daily schedules
involve working on various projects such as organizing school
supply lists for kids, working on the library, interviewing
youth, preparing devotionals, and other types of office work.
At the same time, we work in a flexible atmosphere, with great
people, who allow us to build authentic relationships with
the young people we work with. We truly have seen God at work
in the lives of these young people and in our lives as well,
and we anticipate good things for the future of these kids
as we all continue to learn from each other through community.
